Frequently Asked Questions?

Do you use any harsh methods or equipment while you will be training my dog?

My training philosophy is to work and train on the dog's level. I sit with the pup and form a bond before any training takes place. I like to "speak" and ask permission from the dog before I get to work with them. Once you win over the dog's trust, the rest is pretty easy. I formulate a training plan that works best for that dog without any harsh words, equipment or punishing methods. If you have to use force to train a dog, your not really training.

How long will the training last?

I love to ask this question to my prospective client. "Are you willing and able to train your pup a little everyday for the rest of their life?" If the answer is YES, the behaviors you want will last as long as you keep them strong. Think of it as how long a body builder's muscles were to last if they weren't worked out regularly.

Are you licensed?

Great question! NO, because their is no licensing entity yet for dog trainers. I do hope in the future, licensing becomes a reality. To pick a  trainer for your training needs, my recommendation would be to hire a person who has been certified through the CCPDT (Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers). They are the leading independent certifying organization for the dog training professional. Each trainer must pass a rigorous test to demonstrate their knowledge of humane, science based training practices. I have past the test and I'm proud to carry the initials CPDT-KA  (Certified Professional Dog Trainer Knowledge Assessed) after my name.

Do you work with all breeds of dogs and all age groups?

YES! YES! YES! I have trained pups as young as 8 weeks to a senior pup at age 15. Your dog is never to old to learn! Training older dogs keeps their brains and bodies working, helping them to keep their cognition and bodies strong. I have worked with all types of pure breeds from small to large and lots of mixed breeds. I feel there is no dog that would not benefit from some training.
